Newsletters

The CBERS newsletter is often described as one of the most useful and valued services available to members of the CBERS network. For people wanting to stay in touch with fellow ex-residents and former classmates, the newsletter provides a way to announce social gatherings, seek contact with others, and stay informed. For those who are not in contact with old school friends, the newsletter brings stories and information about people and places they remember from childhood days.

The CBERS Express newsletter was published by CBERS Services in Subiaco for nine years, edited by long-standing CBERSS supporter Ms Deirdre Croft. This collection of earlier newsletters reveals a history shared by the many people who were part of the former agency, and is available at the 'Archived Site' link on the left. The final edition of the CBERS Express appeared in January 2006, and is available below:

When CBERS Consultancy commenced operation in Fremantle, a twice-yearly newsletter became part of the new service design. The first issue of the CBERS Network was published in August 2006, appearing at six monthly intervals since that time. The new publication has a greater degree of input from ex-residents of the six institutions, and an editorial board contributes news and information for each issue. The format of the CBERS Network newsletter reflects the changes to CBERS, and the increasing participation of a network of former child migrants and Australian-born men and women who previously resided at Bindoon, Castledare, Clontarf, Nazareth House, St Joseph's and Tardun. The CBERS Network is mailed to approximately 1000 recipients, including ex-residents, service providers, libraries, and government departments. Electronic copies of the newsletter are provided below:
